The family of jailed traveller Daniel Robinson is anxiously awaiting news of his appeal.Daniel was jailed after entering India without a visa.

An appeal by his lawyer Harish Pujari was due to be heard yesterday.

Daniel's brother, Christian, who lives in Cornwall, said: "We're waiting for the lawyer to phone, although there seems to be some confusion over who's representing him.

"I've contacted the Foreign Office to see if it has heard anything but so far nothing.

"We haven't got our hopes up though and are bracing ourselves for the worst."

The 38-year-old Cheltenham chef was suffering from malnutrition and breathing problems when he stumbled over the Tibetan border with two packhorses looking for help.

He had been travelling around China for a year when he ran into trouble.

Friends of the traveller have set up a website and online petition appealing for his release at www.freedan.co.uk
